Catherine O'Connell appointed as Independent Audit & Supervisory Board Member at Toyota

ON Consulting Group Co-Founder, Catherine O'Connell, was appointed to serve as Independent Audit & Supervisory Board Member at Toyota Motor Corporation following the Shareholders' unanimous vote at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on June 14, 2023 at the Toyota City, the Headquarters of TOYOTA.

Catherine says:

"I am Toyota’s #first #foreign #female outside board member.

It is truly an honor to support the Board of the biggest company in Japan, and the leader in car manufacturing, as it moves to its next phase as a mobility company, transforming the way people move from place to place, all around the world.

Also I really love cars. I have loved the Toyota brand since my family took the trusty Corolla on family holidays around the South Island of New Zealand back in the 80’s. My dad taught me how to change a car tire and how to change the oil, so I could be a competent car owner-driver of the future. To have come full circle to be serving in a well-loved-by-my-family brand of car company, is truly heart-warming.

I declare my mission here - to open the pathways for more women to have this amazing experience that l am having and to show everyone that you have all you need within you to reach to these kinds of governance roles. Because these roles are about human relationships and meeting people where they are, eye to eye and heart to heart, for a shared purpose to improve society and make people’s lives easier.
